Borders reward

RANT

Somehow I keep getting email: Borders Registration Confirmation. I have been using my Borders membership card, but I've never used their discount.

The reason for this isn't that I don't like books and movies, but because their sale is only good for 2 days, Saturdays and Sundays. I NEVER was home on weekends. Almost never, anyway. So, I end up just deleting the coupon and never use it.

I wonder when will they realize that and make their coupons good for one week?

It's snowing!

TRAVEL

I guess summer isn't yet ready to show its color. Went by Willard Bay, UT. I can see the mountain. Fog envelops the top of the mountain. Somebody was complaining about bad weather up north. Some ducks were warming up in a slot recently left by RV.

I think I will sleep inside the bivy. Dinner is noodles, beans, and weenie.

Snow storm on I 80

TRAVEL

Ran into some pretty mean snow storm. Visibility goes to near nil. Speed limit was posted at 35 mph. Apparently some people just ignore that and got into accident. There are 10 trucks and an unknown number of cars piled up in Rawlins. The road was closed all the way to late at night. Must have been some accident!

The next day, I also heard that there is a big accident near Cheyenne, WY. The road there was closed, too.

I think that people need to put safety as their number one priority when driving on public road. Too often, the emphasis is upon speed. I really don't see why that is. As long as the car can hit the speed limit in comfort, what else do you need?

Stranded people

TRAVEL

A couple travellers were staying in driver's lounge, late at night in Nevada. I guess they have nowhere to go but watch TV all day. The movie program was set to TNT and TCM, a different fare than the usual CSI.

I guess it reflects the attitude of people here. They're sociable. I can't help but think that they should be a very successful business had they been located in, say, Dallas/Fort Worth area, as opposed to the people who worked at the TAs over there.

Since the quality of people in general area in Dallas seem lacking, I'm thinking it must be the regional manager who is lacking, instead of the individual plaza manager.

Bruce truck stop

TRAVEL

I stopped by Bruce Truck stop in east Tulsa I44 exit 438. I ordered John Wayne Omelet, served by 1 very tired waitress. The place is a movie memoribilia museum. I saw Elvis, Dolly Parton, and Blues Brothers.

Amazing for something that was leveled down in 1993 by a tornado. I wonder, though, why are there so many cameras in the place?

San Francisco Restaurant

FOOD

What exactly is Sausage on a French roll? Try Rosamunde Sausage Grill. 545 Haight St.

California Academy of Sciences in Golden Gate Park has an upscale restaurant? The Moss Room. I guess the name the Moss-ellum is taken by the museum next door. What will those zany Californians think of next? Bowling Halls? Wait. Those are already done. Oh, well. Never mind.
